Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, grew up a boxer in Searchlight, Nev., and the sport became an important step in his career path. His boxing coach, Mike O'Callaghan, was his first campaign manager and later became Nevada's Governor.

To this day, Reid keeps in shape by starting his day with 100 pushups and 200 situps.
