Distance: Over 2,200 miles

Location: France (obviously), but the course changes every year, and always end in Paris

Mode of Transportation: Bicycle

By far the most popular race on our list, the Tour De France began in 1903 and is the pinnacle of cycling races. But just because it is popular doesn’t mean it’s easy. The race takes place over 23 days where cyclists average about 100 miles-a-day. To put the 2,200 miles in perspective, that's approximately the distance from Washington, DC to Phoenix, Arizona. No wonder so many of them resort to steroids to compete in this grueling event.
