It’s hard to imagine Brett Favre could be involved in the NFL’s most under-told story, but with all the drama surrounding him, everyone forgot about his replacement.

At the beginning of the season, Aaron Rodgers was a big story. How would he handle the pressure stepping in for the single greatest Packer of all time? Would Green Bay accept him? Did the Packers make the right move?

Rodgers hadn’t even started a single game before this season and the Packers were putting the fate of the franchise in his hands. But once the Packers lost three in a row (after winning their first two games) the media turned to Brett Favre and the race in the AFC East. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers was quietly racking up near Pro Bowl numbers.

Rodgers was 4th in the league in passing yards and had 28 touchdowns to just 13 interceptions. Favre, on the other hand, led the league with 22 interceptions as the Jets choked their season away, losing their last four games after a 9-3 start. The Packers finished just 6-10, but don’t blame Rodgers: he outplayed Favre all season long.

It looks like the Packers made the right move dumping their aging QB on the Jets in exchange for a third-round pick in this year’s draft. Now they need to draft some defensive playmakers to compliment Rodgers’ brilliance on the offensive side of the ball.
