After deftly eluding the defense of Spain's Gerard Pique, Cristiano Ronaldo adeptly lifted the ball over Spanish keeper Iker Casillas for what appeared to be the first goal of a scoreless game. The goal was disallowed when Ronaldo's teammate, Nani, came in from the side and headed the ball into the back of the net, earning the offsides penalty. Fortunately for Portugal, this lost goal proved inconsequential, as they would go on to defeat Spain 4-0.
