Hockey Check Breaks Glass

Early in the third period, Carolina right wing Tuomo Ruutu put a seemingly gentle check on Montreal defenseman Hal Gill. As Gill made contact with the glass, two panes shattered near the Hurricanes bench. No one was injured, but play was suspended for 12 minutes as the mess was cleaned up. The Hurricanes topped the visiting Canadiens 6-2.
