After pulling ahead 3-2 with three goals in the second period, the Capitals collapsed in the third. Washington surrendered the game-tying and game-winning goals in a span of 24 seconds in the middle of the third period as Washington fell to Tampa Bay, 4-3. The Lightning now leads the series 3-0.
