Just days after Francisco Liriano hurled a no-hitter, Justin Verlander threw the second of his career. Verlander struck out four (and was a J.P. Arencibia eighth-inning, 12-pitch walk away from a perfect game) in nine no-hit innings. A double play ensured that Verlander faced the minimum as the Tigers' ace fanned Rajai Davis with his 108th pitch to complete the no-hitter.
