U.S. Falls to Sweden, 2-1

The loss is the United States' first World Cup loss ever in group play. Sweden scored its first goal on a penalty kick and the second off a free kick that was deflected by Amy LePeilbet that left goalie Hope Solo no chance to make the save. The U.S. will face Brazil in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
