At the end of the first half, Michigan lined up for a 37-yard field goal and tried to catch Virginia Tech off guard with a fake. The Hokies were not fooled and Drew Dileo put up an ill-advised pass that should have been picked off but instead bounced off a Virginia Tech defender and into the hands of snapper Jareth Glanda. Wolverines settled for a field goal and won in OT, 23-20.
